The only certification check that matters
The flooring industry has a well-documented problem with certificate misuse — sharing a single certificate across unqualified products, presenting expired certificates, and in some cases producing certificate images that were never issued by the named body. The only protection is independent verification at the source. Every certificate on this page has a number that can be searched in a public database. If Ecoflors’ certificate number does not appear in that database, or if the product listed does not match what you are purchasing, stop the procurement and ask for an explanation. We encourage this check. We pass it.

Product-specific — the certificate covers specified product configurations, not all Ecoflors products as a class.

UL certification to UL 2818 standard — the Gold level applies the most stringent chemical emission limits, appropriate for schools, healthcare facilities, and environments occupied by children. Notified Body number on DoP
CE Declaration of Performance (DoP) under EN 14041 — the legally binding EU market access document for floor coverings. The DoP contains the Notified Body number, EN 685 utilisation class confirmation, Bfl-s1 fire classification, and all declared performance characteristics. A «CE marked» claim without a DoP and Notified Body number is not CE certification. Verify the Notified Body accreditation via the EU NANDO database.

European fire classification for floor coverings. Bfl = schwer entflammbar (heavily flame-retardant), s1 = low smoke development. The classification must appear in the CE DoP and be backed by a third-party test report from an accredited Notified Body. Required for all commercial public areas, escape routes, hotel corridors, schools, and healthcare under EU/UK building regulations. Corresponds to old DIN 4102 B1 in German specifications.

Product-specific European standard for semi-rigid and rigid core panels (SPC and LVT click). Mandatory for German Leistungsverzeichnis (GAEB-format tender) inclusion — CE EN 14041 alone is not accepted. EN 16511 covers EN 685 utilisation class, dimensional stability, peel resistance, click-lock strength, and other SPC-specific performance parameters. This distinction is the most common certification gap in German commercial procurement from non-European suppliers.

Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold certification — the recognised third-party certification for the German AgBB (Ausschuss zur gesundheitlichen Bewertung von Bauprodukten) VOC assessment scheme. Required for German schools, Kindergärten, hospitals, and increasingly offices and hotels. Not substitutable with FloorScore or GREENGUARD Gold for German market specifications — different parameter sets, different test protocols. Standard with every Ecoflors shipment to Germany.

UK Conformity Assessed — the post-Brexit replacement for CE marking in the UK market. Required for all floor coverings sold in England, Wales, and Scotland from January 2022. The UKCA DoP mirrors CE DoP content but carries UK Approved Body accreditation. Supplied alongside CE DoP for all UK shipments. Required for Approved Document B (fire), Approved Document E (acoustic) compliance documentation in UK building regulations.

Go to ul.com. Search «135464-420» or «Ecoflors». Verify the specific product configuration — thickness and wear layer — matches the certificate entry. A company-level GREENGUARD registration does not mean all products are certified.

CE DoP — Request the actual document
Request the CE Declaration of Performance PDF. It must contain a Notified Body number (e.g., 0086 for BM Trada). Verify the Notified Body accreditation at ec.europa.eu/growth/tools-databases/nando. A «CE marked» claim without a DoP and Notified Body number is not CE certification.
Why we publish certificate numbers publicly
Most manufacturers provide certificate documents on request — scanned PDFs that cannot be independently verified without a database search. Publishing the certificate numbers here, with the verification URL, is a deliberate choice. Any buyer can check these numbers in under two minutes without contacting us. If the numbers don’t appear in the databases, we deserve to lose the order. The fact that we publish them is the strongest signal we can give that they are genuine — because it would be immediately visible if they were not.

Which certifications are required for the German market?
Five certifications are required for German commercial specification: CE EN 14041 DoP (with Notified Body number), EN 16511 (mandatory for Leistungsverzeichnis — CE EN 14041 alone is not sufficient), Bfl-s1 EN 13501-1, REACH SVHC declaration, and Eurofins IAC Gold for schools, Kindergärten and hospitals. What is the difference between FloorScore and GREENGUARD Gold?
FloorScore (CDPH Section 01350) is required for LEED v4 IEQ credits and Australian commercial specification. GREENGUARD Gold (UL 2818) is required for WELL Building Standard and US/global school and healthcare specifications. For German projects, neither substitutes for Eurofins IAC Gold — the AgBB scheme covers different VOC parameters under different test protocols. All three are standard with every Ecoflors order.
Does Ecoflors UKCA certification cover all products?
