3mm Dryback LVT Class 44 Glue-Down Vinyl
3mm Dryback LVT is the heavy commercial specification of glue-down luxury vinyl flooring — the only LVT product and installation system that achieves EN 685 Class 44. With a 0.55mm or 0.7mm wear layer bonded permanently to the subfloor via full-spread adhesive, it withstands sustained wheeled loads from hospital trolleys, airport baggage carts, and supermarket pallet jacks without joint separation or edge lifting. The standard specification for European commercial office, retail, education, and housing association corridors requiring EN 685 Class 33/42. Also achieves Class 43 for heavy commercial environments where the specification stops short of full Class 44. The 0.55mm wear layer provides 10–15 year service life under sustained commercial foot traffic. FOB from US$4.80/m².

NHS HTM 61Compliant · all 5 criteria
The mandatory specification for NHS hospitals, airport terminals, supermarket trading floors, and any environment where sustained heavy wheeled traffic is present. EN 685 Class 44 is only achievable with 0.7mm wear layer and permanent full-spread adhesive bond. The 0.7mm wear layer provides 15–20+ year service life in Class 44 environments. FOB from US$5.40/m².

Why 3mm Dryback Achieves Class 44.
①
UV Coating
UV-cured topcoat resistant to micro-scratches, chemical staining, and disinfectant agents. Critical for healthcare and food-service environments requiring daily chemical cleaning. EN 16094 MSR-B2 rated.
0.01–0.02mm
②
Wear Layer — 0.55mm or 0.7mm
Transparent PVC film — the sole determinant of EN 685 class and floor service life. 0.55mm achieves Class 33/42/43. 0.7mm achieves Class 43/44 — the NHS HTM 61 and airport standard. This is the only layer in contact with foot traffic. The thickness specified here determines how long the floor lasts in service.
0.55 or 0.7mm
③
Décor Film
High-resolution photographic print in EIR wood grain, stone look, terrazzo, or carpet texture. Same décor film batch as SPC and Loose Lay LVT — Universal Colour Matching across installation systems for mixed-system projects.
0.07mm
④
LVT Core · 100% Virgin PVC
Flexible virgin PVC composite. Dimensional stability ≤0.10% (EN ISO 23999). Virgin PVC formulation prevents plasticiser migration that causes bond failure between the core and adhesive over time — a critical quality difference from recycled PVC core products. The adhesive bond to the subfloor provides dimensional stability — no fibreglass reinforcement layer is required or present in Dryback LVT.
2.2mm
⑤
Balance / Back Layer
Flexible PVC backing. Prevents upward curl during adhesive cure — a critical manufacturing tolerance issue. A flat back ensures uniform bond pressure across the full plank surface. Uniform bond pressure = consistent Class 44 performance under sustained wheeled load.
0.2mm
No fibreglass in Dryback LVT. Unlike Loose Lay LVT — which requires a fibreglass reinforcement layer to achieve dimensional stability without adhesive — Dryback LVT relies on the permanent adhesive bond to the subfloor for stability. The virgin PVC core contains no fibreglass. This is intentional: the flexible PVC core conforms to minor subfloor irregularities during bonding, maximising contact area and adhesive bond strength.

Where 3mm Dryback Is the Correct Specification.
🏥
NHS Hospitals — HTM 61 Standard
3mm Dryback · 0.7mm wear · Class 44 · R10 slip resistance. NHS HTM 61 requires all five criteria simultaneously: EN 685 Class 44, Bfl-s1, R10 wet pendulum, Grade 5 chemical resistance, and UFH compatibility. Only 3mm Dryback with 0.7mm wear and full adhesive bond satisfies all five.

Airport Terminals
3mm Dryback · 0.7mm wear · Class 44. Baggage trolleys, ground service equipment, and sustained passenger foot traffic. The permanent adhesive bond prevents any joint movement under the directional stress of trolley wheels — critical for long-term visual integrity in high-profile public spaces.
Class 44Bfl-s1

Supermarkets & Large Retail
3mm Dryback · 0.55mm or 0.7mm wear · Class 43/44. Pallet jacks, shopping trolleys, forklift overhang zones. Full adhesive bond is the only system that prevents plank migration under repeated directional wheeled loads across large open areas.
Class 43/44R10
🏢
Commercial Office Corridors
3mm Dryback · 0.55mm wear · Class 33/42. For high-traffic office corridors where a permanent bond is preferred over click installation. Also specified where door threshold clearances prevent use of thicker click or SPC systems.

Commercial Kitchens & Restaurants
3mm Dryback · 0.7mm wear · R10 slip · Grade 5 chemical resistance. Full perimeter seal via adhesive bond prevents moisture ingress at plank edges — the primary failure mode of click LVT in wet commercial environments.

Every parameter is confirmed by third-party test certificate issued per production batch — not from a one-time sample submission. Certificates for Bfl-s1, FloorScore, GREENGUARD Gold, and EN ISO 23999 dimensional stability are included with every 3mm Dryback LVT shipment without additional request.
Six certified parameters · 3mm Dryback LVT · 0.55mm and 0.7mm wear layer
≤0.10%
Dimensional Stability
EN ISO 23999. The virgin PVC core maintains ≤0.10% across the temperature range of commercial HVAC systems. This prevents the shear stress at the adhesive bond line that causes edge delamination in lower-quality products with higher expansion rates.
EN ISO 23999 · ASTM F2199
≥50N
Peel Resistance
ISO 24345 per 50mm width. Measures wear layer bond to PVC core. In Class 44 environments, horizontal shear from wheeled traffic is the primary wear layer failure mode. ≥50N ensures the bond exceeds any realistic commercial shear force across the full product service life.
ISO 24345 · per 50mm width
≤0.05mm
Residual Indentation
ISO 24343-1. Permanent deformation after concentrated static load. The full adhesive bond distributes point loads across the entire plank surface — unlike floating systems where point loads concentrate at unsupported plank centres.

R10 / DS
Slip Resistance
DIN 51130 R10 and EN 13893 DS dual-certified. R10 is required for NHS clinical areas, commercial kitchens, and pool surrounds. The permanent adhesive bond eliminates the micro-movement that can reduce effective slip resistance in floating systems under directional wheeled load.
DIN 51130 · EN 13893
Class 44
EN 685 Utilisation Class
Achieved with 3mm total thickness, 0.7mm wear layer, and permanent full-spread adhesive bond. No other LVT installation system — click or loose lay — achieves Class 44 under EN 685. This is a technical requirement, not a marketing claim: the standard requires a bonded installation for Class 44 certification.

Specification guidance: If your project specification states EN 685 Class 44, NHS HTM 61, or involves sustained heavy wheeled traffic (hospital trolleys, pallet jacks, airport baggage carts), 3mm Dryback with 0.7mm wear layer is the only technically correct specification. For general commercial office, retail, and housing association projects requiring Class 33/42, 2.5mm Dryback with 0.5mm wear delivers a lower FOB cost and higher container yield. See the Dryback LVT Hub for the complete product range comparison.
