Click LVT · Flexible core
4mm Click LVT Flooring (Flexible Core)
4mm Click LVT is our slimmest floating build: 4.0 mm total, a 0.30 mm (12 mil) wear layer, a flexible LVT core carrying a fibreglass layer, and a click joint. No attached underlay, so the finished floor is 4.0 mm plus whatever the system allows beneath it. Five formats run in this build, from a 183 × 1220 mm plank to a 305 × 610 mm tile.

Choosing the thickness
When Does 4 mm Make Sense?
Four things change when you go to the slimmest click build. Two of them help, one costs you nothing, and one sets the limit on where the floor can go.
| What you are checking | 4mm Click LVT | What it means for the order |
|---|---|---|
| Floor build-up | 4.0 mm, with no attached backing adding to it | Lower transitions to tile, carpet and existing floors, and less to take off a door. A build with an attached IXPE or EVA backing adds its own thickness on top of the board. |
| Installation | Floating, no adhesive | No adhesive cost, no cure time, and the floor can be lifted. The substrate still has to be flat and sound. |
| Floor per 20 ft container | 3,024 to 3,144 m² depending on format | Loading is weight-limited in all five formats, not volume-limited. Choosing a different format moves the container quantity by about 4%, so pick the format the project wants. |
| Wear layer | 0.30 mm (12 mil), the documented build | This is the limit on where 4 mm belongs. Heavy rolling loads, or a specification naming a utilisation class, point to a heavier wear layer or to a glue-down build instead. |
Where 4 mm is the wrong answer: a tender that names a class we cannot support for this SKU, daily trolley routes, or a substrate nobody is going to level. For those, look at the glue-down Dryback range, where a heavier wear layer runs, or at a thicker click build.
Construction
How the 4 mm Click Build Works
Five layers and a mechanical joint. The fibreglass layer is the part that matters on a floating floor: with no adhesive holding the board down, stability has to come from inside the board.
UV coating
UV-cured surface coat, 4–6 GU matte.
Wear layer
Clear layer over the print, 0.30 mm on this build.
Décor film
The printed wood or stone design, embossed in register where an EIR finish is ordered.
LVT middle layer with fibreglass
The body of the board, carrying the fibreglass layer. Dimensional stability is ≤0.12% to ISO 23999:2021.
LVT bottom layer
Flat back. There is no attached IXPE or EVA underlay in this construction.
Underlay, and What Sits Under the Floor
What this means
The board is supplied bare on the back. That is what keeps the build-up at 4.0 mm, and it means the acoustic and comfort layer, if the project wants one, is a separate decision rather than something already built into the price.
What this means
Whether a separate underlay is allowed, and which type, depends on the click system supplied with your SKU and on its installation instructions. Some locking systems do not permit a soft layer underneath. Ask us before you specify one, and we will send the instruction that applies to the system you are buying.
What this means
A floating floor needs a clean, dry, sound and flat substrate, an expansion gap at the perimeter, and the flatness tolerance the installation instruction states. We send that instruction with the order rather than publishing one number here, because it belongs to the click system on your SKU.

Compliance by Market
We do not publish a fire, slip or emissions rating for this build as a range-wide result. A report supports the construction, thickness and wear layer that was tested and nothing else, so we match documents to the SKU you are quoting and the market it is going to. Tell us the standard your specification names and we will say what we hold for that build, and what we do not. Current certificates are listed on our certifications page.
Formats
Plank, Herringbone & Tile
Five formats run in the 4 mm click build. Texture options differ between the plank sizes and the tile, so the table lists them per format rather than as one range.
| Size | Format | Surface texture options | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 183 × 1220 mm (7.20 × 48.03 in) | Straight plank | Wood-grain texture, EIR or crystal embossing | The closest match to a standard 7 × 48 in plank. |
| 228 × 1220 mm (8.98 × 48.03 in) | Straight plank | Wood-grain texture, EIR or crystal embossing | Wide plank at the shorter length. |
| 228 × 1524 mm (8.98 × 60.00 in) | Straight plank | Wood-grain texture, EIR or crystal embossing | Wide and long. Fewer pieces per carton and the heaviest pallet of the five. |
| 110 × 610 mm (4.33 × 24.02 in) | Herringbone | Wood-grain texture, EIR or crystal embossing | Laid as a pattern, so allow for the cutting and the setting-out. More on herringbone vinyl. |
| 305 × 610 mm (12.01 × 24.02 in) | Rectangular tile | Stone texture or carpet texture | The stone and textile looks sit on this format. More on stone-look vinyl tile. |
An EIR finish registers the emboss to the print, so the texture follows the grain. It is ordered per decor, and matching a decor across two formats needs a physical sample before production. See embossed-in-register vinyl.
Applications
Where 4 mm Click Fits
A starting point for the specification, not a substitute for it. Every row assumes the 0.30 mm wear layer, since that is the build on the datasheet.
-
Apartment and house refurbishment0.30 mm
Project considerations
Floor height against existing thresholds, door undercuts and the transition to tile or carpet. At 4.0 mm with no attached backing, this is the slimmest click floor we make.
-
Rental and turnover programmes0.30 mm
Project considerations
A floating floor can be lifted and a damaged board replaced without disturbing the rest, which suits properties that get reworked between tenants. Agree the colour list early so repairs years later still match.
-
Floors that cannot be bondedPer project
Project considerations
Leased space, or a substrate the project will not let you glue to. Check the substrate moisture and flatness anyway, and check whether the lease wants the floor removable at the end.
-
Design-led residential collectionsPer project
Project considerations
The 110 × 610 mm herringbone and the 305 × 610 mm stone or carpet-texture tile give a range something a plank-only programme does not have. Each size and decor is its own SKU for minimum-order purposes.
-
Commercial areasPer project
Project considerations
The datasheet for this build declares no utilisation class, and 0.30 mm is a light wear layer. Send us the class and the traffic the specification names before you quote it into a commercial project, and we will tell you whether this build or another one fits.

Loaded cargo gross weight runs from 23,665 kg for the 228 × 1524 mm plank to 24,771 kg for the tile. Road weight limits at some destinations, including many North American inland routes, sit below that. We recalculate the load for your port and inland route before quoting a container quantity, and a mixed load of two or more formats is calculated on its own.
OEM & Private Label
We produce 4mm Click LVT under your brand: printed cartons and labels to your artwork, your choice of format and colours, and custom decors from the minimum above. The OEM and private-label programme covers artwork, approvals and the first-order sequence.
Buyer questions
4mm Click LVT FAQs
Does 4mm Click LVT come with an attached IXPE or EVA underlay?
No. The datasheet construction is UV coating, wear layer, décor film, an LVT middle layer carrying a fibreglass layer, and an LVT bottom layer. Nothing is laminated to the back, which is why the build-up stays at 4.0 mm. If a project needs an attached backing, say so at enquiry and we will tell you whether it can be built, rather than assume it.
Does it need a separate underlay?
Not automatically. Whether a separate underlay is allowed depends on the click system supplied with your SKU, the substrate and any acoustic requirement, and some locking systems do not permit a soft layer underneath. Ask us for the installation instruction that applies to your SKU before the project specifies one.
How much height does the finished floor add?
4.0 mm for the board, plus any separate underlay the system allows. There is no attached backing adding to it. Measure the transitions and door clearances against that figure, and remember that levelling compound under the floor adds its own thickness.
Is 4mm Click LVT the same as SPC click flooring?
No. Both float on a click joint, but the core is different. This build has a flexible LVT core with a fibreglass layer inside it. SPC has a rigid mineral-filled core. They behave differently over an uneven substrate and under temperature change, and their datasheets are separate, so compare the two sets of figures rather than the installation method. Our 5mm SPC click page has the rigid-core data.
Which wear layers are available in the 4 mm build?
Our current datasheets for 4 mm click cover the 0.30 mm (12 mil) wear layer, in all five formats. If you need a heavier wear layer, tell us the format and the decor and we will confirm what can run, rather than quote a range we cannot document for this thickness.
Can I use 4mm Click LVT in a commercial project?
The datasheet for this build declares no utilisation class, and 0.30 mm is a light wear layer, so we do not put it forward as a commercial specification on its own. Send the class, the traffic and the standard your specification names, and we will say whether this build fits or point you at a heavier one. A class that ends up on a submittal has to be backed by a report for the exact SKU.
How flat does the subfloor have to be?
Flat, clean, dry and sound, to the tolerance stated in the installation instruction for your click system, with an expansion gap at the perimeter. We send that instruction with the order. A floating floor sits on whatever is under it, so a substrate that has not been levelled shows up as movement and joint stress rather than as a bonded high spot.
Which click system do we get?
Uniclic®, i4F or G2 profile, produced under licence, named per SKU in the quotation. Tell us if your market or your installers need a particular system and we will confirm what is available for the format and volume you are buying.
Can plank, herringbone and tile go in the same container?
Yes, and each size and colour has to meet its own minimum, listed in the ordering terms. Loading is worked out per order: every format here reaches the weight limit before the container is full, so a mixed load is calculated from the actual split rather than read off one line of the packing table.
