4.5mm Loose Lay LVT is a 4.5 mm flexible vinyl plank or tile with a fibreglass-reinforced LVT layer and an anti-skid backing. There is no click joint; pieces are laid loose, edge to edge. We make it with a 0.55 mm (22 mil) or 0.70 mm (28 mil) wear layer, in three planks and three tiles, up to a 914 × 914 mm (36 in) square.

The 4 mm and 4.5 mm loose lay datasheets declare the same test values. What the extra half millimetre changes is weight: every format hits the container weight limit before it runs out of space, so a 20 ft container carries 7.0 to 12.8% less floor at 4.5 mm, depending on format. The 228.6 × 1524 mm plank loses least, about 7%; the 914 mm tile loses most.

Both wear layers run in all six formats with identical packing, so a plank and tile range can be planned in one thickness. If the specification gives total thickness as a minimum rather than a fixed figure, the 4 mm build carries the same datasheet values at a lower freight cost per m².

Construction
Inside the 4.5 mm Loose Lay Board
A loose-laid floor has no joint and no adhesive holding each piece flat. The fibreglass in the LVT layer carries dimensional stability, and the anti-skid backing sits on the substrate.
UV coating
UV-cured matte coat, 4–6 GU.
Wear layer
0.55 mm or 0.70 mm of clear layer over the print.
Décor film
Printed wood or stone design, embossed in register when EIR is ordered.
LVT layer with fibreglass
Dimensional stability ≤0.12% to ISO 23999:2021. Dual fibreglass on request.
Anti-skid backing
The underside in contact with the substrate. No IXPE or EVA is laminated to it.
The drawing splits layer 4 into an LVT middle layer, the fibreglass layer and an LVT bottom layer, so it shows seven numbers against five datasheet items. Substrate preparation and any perimeter fixing depend on the room and the traffic; ask for the installation instruction for your project before the specification is final.

Loaded cargo gross weight runs from 23,835 kg (184.15 × 1219.2 mm) to 24,784 kg (228.6 × 1524 mm). Road limits at some destinations, including many North American inland routes, are lower. We recalculate for your port and inland route before quoting a container quantity. Plank pallets and square-tile pallets have different footprints, so a mixed load is worked out from its actual split.
EIR registers the emboss to the print and is ordered per decor. Matching one decor across a plank and a tile needs a physical sample before production. See embossed-in-register vinyl.

Should I choose 4 mm or 4.5 mm loose lay?
The two datasheets declare the same wear layers, formats and test values. The 4.5 mm board weighs about 8.6 kg/m² against 7.6 kg/m², and because every format is weight-limited, a 20 ft container carries 7.0 to 12.8% less floor at 4.5 mm. Choose 4.5 mm when your range, tender or floor build-up names it; otherwise 4 mm costs less to ship per m².
Does 4.5mm loose lay need adhesive?
The datasheet installation method is loose lay: no click joint and no full-spread adhesive bed. Whether a project needs a perimeter or grid fix depends on room size, traffic, sunlight and the substrate. Ask for the installation instruction for your conditions before the specification goes to the installer.
Is 4.5mm Loose Lay LVT rated for commercial areas?
Neither 4.5 mm loose lay datasheet declares a utilisation class, with the 0.55 mm or the 0.70 mm wear layer. Send the class, the traffic and the standard your specification names, and we’ll say whether this build fits or which one does. A class on a submittal has to be backed by a report for the exact SKU.
0.55 mm or 0.70 mm wear layer?
The two builds differ only in the wear layer, 22 mil against 28 mil. Test values, formats and packing are identical, so the 0.70 mm build takes no extra container space. Choose on what your range or tender names; the price difference is shown per format in the quotation.
What does dual fibreglass change?
It adds a second fibreglass reinforcement and is made on request. The datasheet values on this page are for the standard build, so the quotation for a dual-fibreglass SKU states its weight, packing and which reports cover it.
Can planks and square tiles go in the same container?
Yes. Each format, wear layer and colour is its own SKU and meets its own minimum under the ordering terms. Plank pallets run from 970 × 1240 to 970 × 1550 mm, the square tiles sit on 940 × 940 or 950 × 950 mm pallets, and every format reaches the weight limit first. The load is calculated from your split rather than read off one row of the packing table.
