5mm SPC Click Flooring (4 mm Rigid Core + 1 mm IXPE)
5mm SPC click flooring is a 5.0 mm floating floor made of a 4.0 mm SPC rigid core with a 1.0 mm IXPE underlay attached to the back at the factory. It clicks together on all four edges. We make it with a 0.30 mm (12 mil) or 0.50 mm (20 mil) wear layer, in three plank sizes, two herringbone sizes and a 305 × 610 mm tile.

5 mm Total or 5 mm Core? Reading an SPC Thickness
Our SPC thicknesses are stated as the total, with the 1.0 mm IXPE counted in. So 5 mm here is a 4.0 mm core, and our 6 mm build is the one with a 5.0 mm core. If another quotation says “5 mm SPC + 1 mm IXPE”, compare it with the 6 mm column, not with this page.

At 5 mm most formats fill the container by space before they reach the weight limit. Only the 228 × 1524 mm plank stops at 25 tonnes. That is why a 1 mm thinner core moves the container quantity by a quarter in most formats.

What to check
Of our four SPC thicknesses, 5 mm is the only one with a 0.30 mm datasheet. The 0.50 mm build is also documented at 6 mm, so a range can step up in thickness without changing wear layer.

What to check
The declared test values are the same across 5, 6, 7 and 8 mm, so the thinner core mainly changes weight, height and container quantity. Ask for 5 mm and 6mm SPC click in the same quotation if the specification leaves thickness open.

What to check
Same finished height means fewer threshold strips. Measure the existing floor with any separate underlay under it, because our 5 mm already includes its 1.0 mm IXPE.

The tender asks for a 0.55 mm or 0.70 mm wear layer6 mm and up
What to check
0.55 mm starts at 6 mm, and 0.70 mm at 7 mm. The 8mm SPC with a 7 mm core carries both. A heavier wear layer is still not a class; send the class if your specification names one.
Construction
Inside the 5 mm SPC Board
The datasheet splits the 5.0 mm into two parts: a 4.0 mm SPC board and a 1.0 mm IXPE underlay attached to its back. The wear layer and the printed decor sit on top of the SPC core and are counted inside the 4.0 mm. The rigid core carries the click joint; the IXPE is the layer that meets the substrate. Density of the SPC core is 1.95–2.05 g/cm³ to ISO 23996, against 1.85–1.95 g/cm³ for our flexible click LVT. That is why a 5 mm SPC board with IXPE weighs less than a 5 mm click LVT board: 1 mm of it is foam.

We publish no acoustic result for the attached IXPE. Impact sound ratings belong to the whole floor and ceiling build-up, so they come from a test of that assembly. Whether a second underlay can go under an IXPE-backed board depends on the click system; we send the installation instruction for your SKU, including the substrate flatness tolerance, with the order.

Six formats, each in either wear layer. Packing is the same for 0.30 mm and 0.50 mm. Pallets stack up to three high. At this thickness five of the six formats fill the container by space; only the 228 × 1524 mm plank reaches the weight limit first.

Loaded cargo gross weight runs from 20,996 kg (110 × 610 mm herringbone) to 24,753 kg (228 × 1220 mm plank). Road limits at some destinations, including many North American inland routes, are lower. We recalculate for your port and inland route before quoting a container quantity, and work out a mixed load from its actual split.
EIR registers the emboss to the print and is ordered per decor. Matching one decor across a plank and a herringbone needs a physical sample before production. See embossed-in-register vinyl.

5mm SPC Click FAQs
Is the 5 mm the SPC board, or the board plus underlay?
Board plus underlay. The 5.0 mm total is a 4.0 mm SPC core with a 1.0 mm IXPE underlay attached. Some suppliers quote the core alone and add the underlay on top, so a “5 mm + 1 mm IXPE” offer matches our 6 mm build, which has a 5.0 mm core. Ask every supplier for core thickness and underlay thickness as separate lines.
Does the attached IXPE give an acoustic rating?
We don’t publish one for this build. Impact sound ratings such as IIC or ΔLw depend on the slab, the ceiling and everything between them, so they come from a test of the whole assembly. If your project needs a rating, send the floor and ceiling build-up and we’ll say what we hold and what would need testing.
Is 5mm SPC rated for commercial areas?
Neither 5 mm SPC datasheet declares a utilisation class, with the 0.30 mm or the 0.50 mm wear layer. Send the class, the traffic and the standard your specification names, and we’ll say whether this build fits or which one does. A class on a submittal has to be backed by a report for the exact SKU.
0.30 mm or 0.50 mm wear layer?
The two builds differ only in the wear layer, 12 mil against 20 mil. Test values, formats and packing are identical, so the 0.50 mm build takes no extra container space. Choose on what your range or tender names; the price difference is shown per format in the quotation.
Does 6 mm SPC perform better than 5 mm?
Not on our datasheets. Dimensional stability, curling, residual indentation, castor chair and abrasion group are declared at the same values for 5, 6, 7 and 8 mm. What the thicker core changes is weight (about 10.1 kg/m² against 8.1 kg/m²), finished floor height, the wear layers on offer and container quantity, which is 18 to 25% lower at 6 mm depending on format.
How is the herringbone packed?
Both herringbone sizes, 110 × 610 mm and 150 × 750 mm, come as A and B boards packed in separate cartons, 24 and 25 pieces per carton. Order A and B in equal quantities unless your layout says otherwise, and allow extra for cutting and setting-out.
Can planks, herringbone and tiles go in the same container?
Yes. Each format, wear layer and colour is its own SKU and meets its own minimum under the ordering terms. Pallet footprints differ by format and most formats fill by space rather than weight, so a mixed load is calculated from your split, not read off one row of the packing table.
