8mm SPC Click Flooring (7 mm Rigid Core + 1 mm IXPE)

Is 8 mm SPC the same as “7 mm SPC + 1 mm IXPE”?

Yes, for our range. The 8.0 mm total is a 7.0 mm SPC core with a 1.0 mm IXPE underlay attached. Suppliers that quote the core alone list the same build as “7 mm + 1 mm IXPE”. Ask every supplier for core thickness and underlay thickness as separate lines.

Is 8mm SPC Class 43?

Neither 8 mm SPC datasheet declares a utilisation class, with the 0.55 mm or the 0.70 mm wear layer. A class comes from a classification against the standard your specification is written to, not from thickness alone. Send the class, the traffic and the standard, and we’ll say whether this build can be documented to it or which one can. A class on a submittal has to be backed by a report for the exact SKU.

Is 8 mm quieter than 7 mm?

We don’t publish an acoustic result for any of our SPC thicknesses. Impact sound ratings such as IIC or ΔLw depend on the slab, the ceiling and everything between them, so they come from a test of the whole assembly, not from the floor board alone. If your project needs a rating, send the floor and ceiling build-up and we’ll say what we hold and what would need testing.

0.55 mm or 0.70 mm wear layer?

The two builds differ only in the wear layer, 22 mil against 28 mil. Test values, formats and packing are identical, so the 0.70 mm build takes no extra container space. Choose on what your range or tender names; the price difference is shown per format in the quotation.

7 mm or 8 mm?

Both are documented with 0.55 mm and 0.70 mm wear layers, and their declared test values are the same. The 7mm SPC has a 6.0 mm core, weighs about 12.1 kg/m² and loads 1,855–1,981 m² per 20 ft container, against about 14.1 kg/m² and 1,237–1,701 m² at 8 mm. Choose 8 mm when the specification, the finished floor height or your range names it.

Does 8 mm perform better than 5 or 6 mm?

Not on our datasheets. Dimensional stability, curling, residual indentation, castor chair and abrasion group are declared at the same values for 5, 6, 7 and 8 mm. What the thicker core changes is weight, finished floor height, the wear layers on offer and container quantity.

Will 8 mm cover an uneven subfloor that a thinner board won’t?

We don’t publish a bridging figure for any SPC thickness, and a thicker board is not a substitute for substrate preparation. The flatness tolerance comes from the installation instruction for the SKU and click system, which we send with the order. If your site survey shows deviations, send the readings and we’ll say what the instruction requires.

How is the herringbone packed?

Both herringbone sizes, 110 × 610 mm and 150 × 750 mm, come as A and B boards packed in separate cartons, 24 and 14 pieces per carton at 8 mm. Order A and B in equal quantities unless your layout says otherwise, and allow extra for cutting and setting-out.

Can planks, herringbone and tiles go in the same container?

Yes. Each format, wear layer and colour is its own SKU and meets its own minimum under the ordering terms. At 8 mm most formats fill by weight and two fill by space, so a mixed load is calculated from your split, not read off one row of the packing table.

Which other SPC thicknesses do you make?
