Does SPC or vinyl flooring need a TIS (มอก.) mark?
Whether compulsory TIS certification applies depends on the exact product and the scope of the current standard. Before shipment, have your importer check the flooring construction and product description with TISI or the customs broker. Check SPC wall panels separately. A project may also specify standards beyond import requirements.
Why do Thai listings say 5.5 mm for a 4 mm floor?
Many Thai shops quote SPC as board plus attached foam, written like หนา 5.5 มม. (พื้น 4 มม. + โฟม IXPE 1.5 มม.). We list the board, the attached underlay and the total separately in each quotation. Compare the same three numbers before you compare prices.
Form E or RCEP certificate: which one do we need?
For goods of Chinese origin, Thailand can grant a preferential rate under the ASEAN–China FTA (Form E) or under RCEP. Your broker compares both with the general rate for the 8-digit tariff line and tells you which certificate to use. Tell us at enquiry which one your broker needs, so it is settled before the order is confirmed.
How is import VAT on flooring calculated?
Import VAT is charged on the CIF value plus import duty and any excise or other prescribed fees (Revenue Code, section 79/2). The rate is 7 %, extended until 30 September 2027. It is paid at clearance; your accountant confirms whether and how your company can claim it as input tax.
What has to be in place before the first container?
The importer registers with the Thai Customs e-Customs system, directly or through a customs broker who lodges the import declaration. Invoice, packing list and bill of lading must match in quantities, weights and descriptions. Your forwarder books the sea freight to Laem Chabang or Bangkok Port.
Will SPC hold up in the rainy season and on ground-floor slabs?
The SPC core is a rigid mineral and PVC board with no wood fibre, unlike laminate. Before installation, check substrate moisture and flatness, especially on new concrete and ground-floor slabs, and acclimatise the boxes as the installation guide for the item says. Our dimensional-stability report is a heat test, not a humidity test.

Site check: a floating floor needs a flat, dry, sound slab or screed; glue-down also needs a level surface fit for the adhesive. Check flatness and moisture as the installation guide for the item says, above all on new concrete and ground floors in the rainy season. A rigid core does not correct an uneven or damp slab.
