4.5mm Click LVT Flooring (Flexible Core)
4.5mm Click LVT is a 4.5 mm floating board with a flexible LVT core, a fibreglass layer inside it and a click joint on all four edges. It runs with a 0.30 mm (12 mil) or a 0.50 mm (20 mil) wear layer, and the back is bare: there is no attached underlay, so all 4.5 mm is board. Five formats, from a 183 × 1220 mm plank to a 305 × 610 mm tile.

The main choice on this page
0.30 mm or 0.50 mm: Choosing the Wear Layer
At 4.5 mm we hold datasheets for two wear layers, and that is the decision most buyers of this thickness are really making. The two builds share the same board, the same packing and the same test results. Only the clear layer over the print changes.
0.30 mm
12 mil wear layer
The lighter build, for residential programmes where the specification does not call for a minimum wear layer. Same five formats, same carton and container figures as the 0.50 mm build.
0.50 mm
20 mil wear layer
0.20 mm more clear layer above the print. Pick it when a tender or a retail range calls for a 20 mil wear layer. It does not come with a utilisation class: none is declared on either datasheet.

So the heavier wear layer doesn’t cost you container space. Its price difference comes in the quotation, per format and decor.

The extra half millimetre is board, not foam. It adds weight, and every format here reaches the container weight limit before it runs out of space, so a 20 ft container carries 7 to 13% less floor at 4.5 mm than at 4 mm, depending on format. What you get back is the choice of a 0.50 mm wear layer. If you only need 0.30 mm and floor height is tight, the 4mm build is the cheaper container.
Construction
How the 4.5 mm Click Build Works
Five layers and a mechanical joint. On a floating floor nothing holds the board down, so its dimensional stability has to come from inside it. That is the job of the fibreglass layer in the middle.
UV coating
UV-cured surface coat, 4–6 GU matte.
Wear layer
Clear layer over the print: 0.30 mm or 0.50 mm.
Décor film
The printed wood or stone design, embossed in register where an EIR finish is ordered.
LVT middle layer with fibreglass
The body of the board. Dimensional stability is ≤0.12% to ISO 23999:2021.
LVT bottom layer
Flat back. Nothing is laminated to it: no IXPE, no EVA.
Underlay, and What Sits Under the Floor
What this means
The 4.5 mm is all vinyl board. If the project wants an acoustic or comfort layer, that’s a separate line in the specification, not something already built into the price.
What this means
Some locking systems don’t permit a soft layer underneath. Whether one is allowed, and which type, depends on the click system supplied with your SKU. Ask before you specify one and we’ll send the instruction for that system.
What this means
Clean, dry, sound and flat, with a perimeter expansion gap and the flatness tolerance the installation instruction states. That tolerance belongs to the click system on your SKU, so we send it with the order instead of publishing one number here.

EIR registers the emboss to the print, so the texture follows the grain. It is ordered per decor, and matching one decor across two formats needs a physical sample before production. See embossed-in-register vinyl.

Eight wood decors we run most often, from light sand and greige through natural and golden oak to chestnut, smoked oak and grey. Each image is a rendered room scene next to a close-up of the plank print, so judge colour from a physical sample, not the screen.

Quote the reference number when you ask for samples or prices. Each decor is its own SKU for the 800 m² minimum, and which of the five formats and two wear layers it runs in is confirmed per decor in the quotation. Loaded cargo gross weight runs from 23,972 kg for the herringbone to 24,892 kg for the 183 × 1220 mm plank. Road weight limits at some destinations, including many North American inland routes, sit below that. We recalculate the load for your port and inland route before quoting a container quantity, and a mixed load of two or more formats is calculated on its own.

4.5mm Click LVT FAQs
Is the 4.5 mm thickness including an attached backing?
No. There is no attached IXPE or EVA underlay on this build. The datasheet construction is UV coating, wear layer, décor film, an LVT middle layer carrying a fibreglass layer, and an LVT bottom layer, and together they make the 4.5 mm. If a project needs an attached backing, say so at enquiry and we’ll tell you whether it can be built.
What is the difference between the 0.30 mm and 0.50 mm versions?
Only the wear layer: 12 mil against 20 mil. Board thickness, test results, formats and packing are identical on the two datasheets, so the 0.50 mm build carries the same container quantity. Neither build has a utilisation class declared.
Should I choose 4 mm or 4.5 mm?
If you need a 0.50 mm wear layer, 4.5 mm is the click thickness where we document it. If 0.30 mm is enough and floor height or freight cost matters, the 4mm build puts 8 to 15% more floor in a 20 ft container, depending on format, because both thicknesses are weight-limited.
Does it need a separate underlay?
Not automatically. Whether a separate underlay is allowed depends on the click system on your SKU, the substrate and any acoustic requirement, and some locking systems don’t permit a soft layer underneath. Ask for the installation instruction that applies to your SKU before the project specifies one.
Is 4.5mm Click LVT the same as SPC click flooring?
No. Both float on a click joint, but this build has a flexible LVT core with a fibreglass layer inside it, and SPC has a rigid mineral-filled core. They behave differently over an uneven substrate and under temperature change, and they have separate datasheets. Compare the figures, not the installation method. Can I use 4.5mm Click LVT in a commercial project?
Neither datasheet declares a utilisation class, so we don’t put this build forward as a commercial specification on its own, even with the 0.50 mm wear layer. Send the class, the traffic and the standard your specification names, and we’ll tell you whether this build fits or point you to another one. A class on a submittal has to be backed by a report for the exact SKU.

Can I mix wear layers and formats in one container?
Yes. Each wear layer, size and colour is its own SKU and meets its own minimum, listed in the ordering terms. All five formats reach the weight limit before the container is full, so a mixed load is calculated from the actual split, not read off one line of the packing table.
