3mm Dryback LVT Flooring (Glue-Down)
3mm Dryback LVT is our thickest glue-down vinyl build: 3.0 mm total, with a 0.55 mm or 0.70 mm wear layer, bonded to the subfloor with no locking profile and no attached underlay. The 0.70 mm build is declared ISO 10874 Class 34 on our datasheet. It goes to importers, distributors and contractors specifying commercial floors in plank and tile formats.

Choosing the thickness
When Does 3mm Make Sense?
Thickness alone doesn’t decide a commercial specification. The class the tender names, the rolling loads and the documents you need matter more. Here is what 3 mm changes compared with our 2.5 mm build, including the part that costs you.

Construction
3mm Dryback LVT Construction
Five layers, surface to back. The back is flat so it bonds to the adhesive across its whole area.
UV coating
UV-cured surface coat that sets the matte finish.
Wear layer
Clear layer over the print, 0.55 or 0.70 mm. This is the main choice you make on the 3 mm build.
Décor film
The printed wood or stone design.
LVT middle layer
Main body of the plank or tile.
LVT bottom layer
Flat back that goes into the adhesive. There is no fibreglass sheet in this build.
0.55mm vs 0.70mm Wear Layer
0.55 mm wear layer (≈22 mil)
For offices, hotels and education floors with steady foot traffic. EN ISO 10582 sets 0.55 mm as the minimum wear layer for Class 33. Meeting a minimum is not the same as holding the class, so we confirm the classification for the exact SKU before it goes on a submittal.
0.70 mm wear layer (≈28 mil)
Declared Class 34 (very heavy commercial use) on our datasheet, and the build the performance table below describes. Take it when the tender names Class 34, or when trolleys and rolling loads make the extra wear layer worth the higher cost.

3mm Dryback LVT FAQs
What is the difference between 3mm and 2.5mm Dryback LVT?
The 3 mm build offers a 0.70 mm wear layer, which the 2.5 mm build doesn’t, and that build is declared Class 34 on our datasheet. The trade-off is less floor per container: about 4,040 m² of the 184.15 × 1219.2 mm plank per 20 ft GP, against about 4,940 m² in 2.5 mm. If the tender is satisfied by a 0.55 mm wear layer, compare both before you decide. The 2.5mm Dryback LVT page has its figures.
Should I choose a 0.55 mm or 0.70 mm wear layer?
Start from the class your specification names, not the thickness. If it names Class 34, quote the 0.70 mm build and ask us for the SKU’s test report. For lower classes, 0.55 mm usually does the job at lower cost, and we confirm its class for the exact SKU.
Is 3mm Dryback LVT the same as 3mm glue-down LVP?
Same product and the same installation. LVP (luxury vinyl plank) is the name North American buyers often use for plank formats; LVT covers planks and tiles. Our 184.15 × 1219.2 mm and 228.6 × 1524 mm planks are what a US or Canadian spec would call 3mm glue-down LVP.
Does 3mm Dryback LVT need an underlay?
No. It is glued directly to a prepared subfloor, and an underlay under a glue-down floor would stop the adhesive bonding. If the project has an acoustic requirement, that is met with a separate acoustic layer the adhesive system approves, and it is specified before ordering.
Which adhesive should the installer use?
One the adhesive manufacturer approves for LVT on your substrate, applied to its trowel and open-time instructions. On commercial jobs, ask the adhesive supplier about rolling loads and underfloor heating too. We don’t name a brand, because the right product depends on the substrate, the site climate and what is sold in your market.
Can 3mm Dryback LVT go into hospitals or care homes?
Only in rooms where the project allows plank or tile flooring. In the UK, NHS flooring guidance sits in HBN 00-10 Part A, and clinical or wet-clinical rooms often need welded sheet vinyl rather than LVT. Confirm the room types with the project’s estates and infection-control teams first. Our care home and NHS flooring guide covers the split.
Can I mix several colours in one container?
Yes. Each colour has to meet its own minimum, listed in the ordering terms. Tell us the split by colour and we’ll work out the load.
Can you send fire and slip test reports for my market?
Send us the market and the standard your specification names. We check which reports cover the exact construction and wear layer being quoted, and tell you plainly if one does not exist yet.
What if the project needs a floating floor instead?
Dryback is glue-down only. For a floating installation, look at Click LVT, or at loose lay vinyl where tiles need to lift out for access.
