Click LVT · Flexible core

5mm Click LVT Flooring (Flexible Core)

5mm Click LVT is the thickest of our three flexible-core click builds: a 5.0 mm floating board with a fibreglass layer inside the LVT core, a click joint on all four edges and a bare back, with no attached underlay. It runs with a 0.30 mm (12 mil) or 0.50 mm (20 mil) wear layer, in three plank sizes, a herringbone and a 305 × 610 mm tile.

Three floors, one thickness

Which 5 mm Floor Are You Quoting?

We make three different floors at 5 mm. The thickness matches; the core and the way the floor stays down don’t, and each one has its own datasheet. If a price list only says “5 mm click”, check which core it means before you compare prices.

5mm Click LVT Specifications & Options

We hold ten datasheets for this build: five formats, each with a 0.30 mm and a 0.50 mm wear layer. Apart from the wear layer, the two sets carry the same values, down to the packing figures.

What 5 mm Changes, and What It Doesn’t

Our 4, 4.5 and 5 mm click datasheets give identical results for every test they list, from dimensional stability to the castor chair. The extra thickness is board. It adds weight and floor height and it costs container space. It doesn’t move a published performance figure.

All three thicknesses from the Ecoflors TDS, version 2026.09.23-R01, same five formats. Board weight is calculated from the datasheet packing basis of 1,900 kg/m³.

Container Quantity by Format

305 × 610 mm tile≈3,144 m²≈2,751 m²≈2,438 m²11.4% less

One thing does get easier at 5 mm: the five formats land within 2% of each other per container, and the 228 × 1524 mm plank, which carries the least floor at 4 mm, carries the most at 5 mm. Pick the format on the design and the room, because freight won’t decide it for you.

When 5 mm Is the Right Call

  • Your range or tender names 5 mm5 mm

Wear layer: whatever the specification names, 0.30 or 0.50 mm

    What to check

If 5 mm is the line on the price ticket or in the tender, this is the build. Both wear layers run in all five formats, so the range can be planned in one thickness.

  • You’re matching a 5 mm floor next door5 mm

Typical case: phased refurbishment, adjoining units

    What to check

Same finished height means fewer threshold strips and door adjustments. Measure the existing floor, including any underlay, before you rely on the match.

  • Freight per m² decides the order4 or 4.5 mm

Difference: 11 to 15% more floor per container at 4.5 mm

    What to check

The test values are the same, so thickness is mostly a freight question. 4.5mm Click LVT keeps both wear layers. 4mm Click LVT puts 22 to 29% more floor in a container, in 0.30 mm only.

  • The project needs a declared classOther build

Status: no class declared at 5 mm

    What to check

Thicker is not a class. For commercial areas with daily trolley traffic, look at the glue-down Dryback range, or send us the class and we’ll say which build we can document to it.

Construction

Inside the 5 mm Click Board

All 5.0 mm is vinyl board. The fibreglass layer in the middle carries the dimensional stability, because a floating floor has no adhesive holding it flat.

Exploded diagram of a click LVT board: clear top layers, printed décor film, core sheets, a mesh reinforcement layer and a bottom layer with the click profile on its edge

  1. UV coating

    UV-cured matte coat, 4–6 GU.

  2. Wear layer

0.30 mm or 0.50 mm of clear layer over the print.

  3. Décor film

Printed wood or stone design, embossed in register when EIR is ordered.

  4. LVT middle layer with fibreglass

Dimensional stability ≤0.12% to ISO 23999:2021.

  5. LVT bottom layer

Bare back. No IXPE or EVA is laminated to it.

Want an acoustic or comfort layer? It goes in the specification as a separate underlay, and only if the click system on your SKU permits one. Some locking systems don’t. We send the installation instruction for your system, including the substrate flatness tolerance, with the order.

Compliance by Market

Fire, slip and emissions results are not published here as range-wide ratings. A report covers the construction, thickness and wear layer that was tested, so we match documents to the SKU you are quoting and the market it ships to. Tell us the standard your specification names and we’ll say what we hold for that build and what we don’t. Current certificates are on our certifications page.

Formats and loading

Formats, Packing & Container Loading

Five formats, each in either wear layer. The packing figures are the same for 0.30 mm and 0.50 mm. Pallets stack up to three high, and weight, not space, sets the container quantity in every format.

Loaded cargo gross weight runs from 23,925 kg (228 × 1220 mm) to 24,249 kg (228 × 1524 mm). Road limits at some destinations, including many North American inland routes, are lower. We recalculate for your port and inland route before quoting a container quantity, and work out a mixed load from its actual split.

EIR registers the emboss to the print and is ordered per decor. Matching one decor across two formats needs a physical sample before production. See embossed-in-register vinyl.

Buyer questions

5mm Click LVT FAQs

Is 5mm Click LVT a heavy-commercial floor?

We don’t sell it as one. Neither 5 mm datasheet declares a utilisation class, with either wear layer, and a thicker board is not a class. Send the class, the traffic and the standard your specification names, and we’ll say whether this build fits or which one does. A class on a submittal has to be backed by a report for the exact SKU.

Does 5 mm perform better than 4.5 mm?

Not on our datasheets. Dimensional stability, curling, residual indentation, castor chair and abrasion group are declared at the same values for 4, 4.5 and 5 mm. What 5 mm changes is weight (about 9.5 kg/m²), finished floor height and container quantity, which is 10 to 13% lower than at 4.5 mm depending on format.

Does the 5 mm include an attached underlay?

No. The 5.0 mm is all board: UV coating, wear layer, décor film, an LVT middle layer carrying a fibreglass layer, and an LVT bottom layer. A separate underlay is possible only where the click system on your SKU permits one, and we send that instruction with the order.

What is the difference between 5mm Click LVT, 5mm Loose Lay LVT and 5mm SPC click?

Same thickness, different floors. Click LVT and Loose Lay LVT both have a flexible core with a fibreglass layer; the click version locks board to board, and loose lay has no click joint. SPC has a rigid mineral-filled core and also clicks. Each has its own datasheet: see 5mm Loose Lay LVT and 5mm SPC click.

0.30 mm or 0.50 mm wear layer at 5 mm?

The two builds differ only in the wear layer, 12 mil against 20 mil. Test values, formats and packing are identical, so the 0.50 mm build takes no extra container space. Choose it when your range or tender calls for 20 mil; the price difference is shown per format in the quotation.

Which click system do we get?

Uniclic®, i4F or G2 profile, produced under licence, named per SKU in the quotation. If your market or installers need a particular system, tell us and we’ll confirm what’s available for the format and volume.

Can 5 mm and 4.5 mm go in the same container?

Yes. Each thickness, wear layer, size and colour is its own SKU and meets its own minimum under the ordering terms. Every format reaches the weight limit first, so a mixed load is calculated from the real split, not read off one row of the packing table.
