SPC & LVT Flooring
Supplier UK
UKCA · Bfl-s1 · EN 14041
UK commercial flooring procurement is specification-led — architects, quantity surveyors, and project managers select on compliance first, then price. Every Ecoflors shipment to the UK includes the complete UKCA and CE documentation package for project submission, tender response, and building control sign-off. Specifically, post-Brexit UKCA marking is mandatory for construction products placed on the England, Scotland, and Wales market — and Ecoflors provides both UKCA and CE marking, covering UK and remaining EU tenders simultaneously.
Each Buyer Type Has Different Documentation Needs.
A national flooring distributor importing mixed-SKU containers has different compliance and logistics requirements than a BTR developer tendering for a 500-unit scheme, a fit-out contractor working on an NHS hospital, or a national distributor running a private-label programme. Consequently, Ecoflors structures every UK order around the buyer type — not generic product listings.
Your procurement risk sits at Felixstowe. HS 3918.10 pre-classification, mixed-container weight compliance, and UKCA documentation readiness are the three variables that determine whether your container clears within 24 hours or sits in examination for five working days. Ecoflors has shipped to Felixstowe and Southampton since 2015 — every container departs with complete UKCA and CE documentation pre-packed, not assembled on arrival. Furthermore, OEM and private-label programmes are available from 800 sqm per colour for distributors requiring factory-direct supply under their own brand.
UK Build-to-Rent developers specify flooring at the scheme level — typically 300–2,000 units with a consistent colour specification across all blocks and phases. The specification challenge is consistency: the same colour, texture, and performance across multiple production batches delivered over 12–36 month construction programmes. Specifically, Ecoflors guarantees same-batch colour matching for reorder within 60 days, and maintains production records for extended programmes. UKCA and CE DoP with each delivery supports building control sign-off at practical completion.
You install to British Standards and carry warranty liability to the principal contractor and end client. For NHS projects, HTM 61 compliance is the minimum threshold — Class 44 utilisation, Bfl-s1, R10 slip resistance, Grade 5 chemical resistance, and UFH compatibility. For commercial office and retail fit-outs, EN 685 Class 33/42 with FloorScore VOC certification is the specification that satisfies both the building owner and BREEAM assessor simultaneously. Moreover, peel resistance ≥50N/50mm (ISO 24345) and residual indentation ≤0.05mm (ISO 24343-1) are the parameters that protect you from warranty callbacks.
UK housing association renovation programmes specify flooring under the Social Housing Decency Standard — requiring Bfl-s1 fire classification for all common areas and corridors, and Class 33 minimum utilisation class for LVT floor coverings. 2.5mm Dryback LVT with 0.5mm wear layer satisfies both requirements at US$5.80/m² FOB — significantly below the cost of 5mm SPC click while delivering Class 33/42 in a permanently bonded installation. Furthermore, the same colour code is available across all Dryback thicknesses — allowing residential units and common areas to be specified from one purchase order in two performance tiers.
“Vinyl Flooring.” They Specify by System.
Architects and QSs specify by installation method, wear class, and fire rating. Selecting the wrong system for the project type is the most common — and entirely avoidable — cause of specification failure in UK commercial flooring.
⭐ UK Primary Spec
The default UK residential and light commercial specification. Rigid limestone-PVC core (1.95–2.05 g/cm³) delivers waterproof performance and ≤0.10% dimensional stability across UK temperature cycling. No adhesive — click installation reduces programme time versus glue-down. UKCA and CE marked, Bfl-s1 certified, UFH compatible to 27°C surface temperature. Consequently, SPC click is the correct specification for UK BTR, student accommodation, PRS, and light commercial fit-outs where adhesive bonding is not required and floating installation is preferred.
NHS · Housing Association · Class 44
Permanent adhesive bond — zero movement under rolling loads. The specification for NHS hospital wards (HTM 61 Class 44), UK housing association common corridors (Social Housing Decency Standard), and commercial retail where floating joint noise is not acceptable. 2mm Dryback for residential units. 2.5mm for common areas and offices (Class 33/42). 3mm with 0.7mm wear for NHS wards, airports, and supermarket chain sales floors (Class 44). All Dryback thicknesses available in the same colour code — one purchase order, multiple utilisation classes.
Fast Renovation · No Adhesive
Friction-backed installation — no adhesive, no click system. The correct specification for UK office renovation in occupied buildings where adhesive cure time and floating floor acoustic limitations both apply. Specifically, loose lay LVT over existing subfloor allows same-day handover in phased office renovation programmes — eliminating the 24–48 hour adhesive cure time of Dryback and the hollow underfoot sound of click floating LVT. Raised-access floor compatible. 5.0mm total thickness.
PRS · HMO · Acoustic Comfort
Flexible core — softer and warmer underfoot than rigid SPC. The preferred specification for UK private rented sector (PRS) and HMO residential projects where tenant comfort and acoustic performance between floors are higher priorities than the maximum commercial durability that rigid SPC provides. Uniclic floating installation. Higher acoustic absorption coefficient than SPC — better impact sound reduction through the floor assembly for residential properties without specialist ceiling systems below.
Addressed at the Factory, Not On Site.
Ground-level and basement conversions in pre-1920 UK housing stock carry persistent subfloor moisture that rises through concrete and screed. Standard vinyl flooring with adhesive lamination delaminates under sustained moisture exposure — producing edge lifting and mould growth within 12–24 months. Ecoflors SPC rigid core is 100% waterproof — the limestone-PVC composite does not absorb moisture at any layer. Furthermore, the pre-attached IXPE underlay creates a thermal and moisture break between the subfloor and the plank assembly, eliminating moisture migration to the décor layer regardless of subfloor dampness level.
UK buildings cycle between approximately 5°C in winter and 28°C in summer — and rooms with underfloor heating cycle daily between the ambient and heated temperature. SPC flooring must maintain dimensional stability across this range. The certified figure is ≤0.10% per EN ISO 23999 — meaning across a 1,000mm plank length, maximum expansion is 1mm. Specifically, this figure ensures joint integrity is maintained across the full UK seasonal and UFH temperature range without gapping or buckling. UFH surface temperature limit: 27°C, per DIN EN 1264 (also referenced in UK UFH installations).
Approved Document B (England and Wales) and the equivalent Scottish Building Standards and Northern Irish Technical Booklets tightened fire requirements for multi-storey residential and commercial buildings significantly after 2017. EN 13501-1 Bfl-s1 is the minimum fire classification for commercial flooring and multi-storey residential common areas. Moreover, post-Grenfell, building control officers are applying stricter scrutiny to product fire certification on residential projects above 11 metres — making third-party certified Bfl-s1 certificates, not self-declared manufacturer claims, the accepted standard. Ecoflors provides the third-party Bfl-s1 certificate number with every UK shipment for inclusion in the building manual.
UK liability law places slip and trip responsibility on the building owner and facilities manager. HSE guidance and EN 13893 require a minimum slip resistance of R9 for commercial dry areas and R10 for wet or contaminated areas — bathrooms, kitchens, building entrances, and healthcare corridors. Consequently, a floor covering without independent slip resistance certification exposes the building owner to personal injury liability that cannot be defended with manufacturer specification sheets alone. All Ecoflors SPC and LVT carries EN 13893 and DIN 51130 R10 slip resistance certification — independently tested, certificate provided with every shipment.
