The Right Floor for the Right Zone

Not every area of a healthcare facility uses the same floor. A good specification matches the product to the clinical requirement of the space. We manufacture LVT plank and tile — the right choice for the majority of a facility’s floor area, but not for the sterile zones that require a seamless welded surface. Here is the honest breakdown.

LVT is ideal for
  • Care homes & senior living — bedrooms, lounges, dining, activity rooms
  • Patient rooms — not required to be seamless under FGI guidelines
  • Corridors & circulation — with the design continuity that aids wayfinding
  • Clinics & outpatient — where warmth, budget and easy cleaning matter
  • Waiting & reception — a calmer, less clinical, home-like feel
  • Nurse stations & admin — light loads, fast plank replacement
  • Rehabilitation & day rooms — quiet underfoot, comfortable, warm
These areas represent the majority of a facility’s floor area — and are where LVT’s warmth, easy repair and antimicrobial low-VOC performance make it the specification of choice.
Use sheet vinyl for
  • Operating rooms (OR) — require a seamless monolithic floor
  • Intensive care (ICU) — heat-welded, coved sheet vinyl
  • Isolation rooms — sterile, joint-free surface mandated
  • Procedure & surgical suites — FGI seamless requirement
  • Wet splash zones — where a watertight cove up the wall is needed
These sterile zones require a seamless welded floor that LVT cannot form. We are transparent about this: for these areas, specify homogeneous sheet vinyl. We focus on doing LVT well for every other space.

The specification case

Why Care Operators Choose LVT

In senior living and non-critical healthcare, the floor does more than cover the subfloor — it affects infection control, fall safety, noise, staff fatigue and how “home-like” a space feels. LVT answers all of these.

🦠
Antimicrobial & Non-Porous
A non-porous surface with antimicrobial treatment resists the growth of bacteria and is easy to disinfect — supporting the infection-control protocols that care settings depend on.
🛡️
Slip Resistance (R10)
Falls are the leading safety risk in senior care. R10 slip resistance reduces that risk in corridors, bathrooms and circulation areas without a heavily textured surface that traps dirt.
🔧
Repair Without Closing
If a plank is damaged by a bed, wheelchair or trolley, a single plank lifts and replaces in minutes — no need to close a wing or re-floor a whole room. Critical for facilities that never stop.
🔇
Quieter for Recovery
Noise disturbs patient rest and raises stress. With optional IXPE acoustic backing, LVT dampens footfall and trolley noise in corridors and rooms — reported per the tested floor build.
🏡
Home-Like, Not Clinical
Realistic wood and stone visuals make a care setting feel warm and residential rather than institutional — and tone changes between zones help residents with wayfinding.
🌿
Low-VOC & PVC-Free Option
Indoor air quality matters most where vulnerable people spend their days. Our PVC-free range carries the Blue Angel ecolabel, with FloorScore and GREENGUARD Gold across the collection.

Specifier & buyer questions

Healthcare LVT — Common Questions

Can your LVT be used in operating rooms or ICUs?
No — and we are transparent about this. Operating rooms, ICUs and isolation rooms require a seamless, heat-welded monolithic floor under FGI guidelines, which sheet vinyl provides and LVT cannot. Our LVT is the right choice for the majority of a facility — patient rooms, corridors, care homes, clinics, waiting and rehabilitation areas — where a seamless surface is not mandated. For sterile zones, specify homogeneous sheet vinyl.
Is the flooring antimicrobial?
An antimicrobial surface treatment is available across the range, inhibiting bacterial growth on the floor surface between cleaning cycles. Combined with a non-porous, easy-to-disinfect surface, it supports infection-control protocols in care settings. Antimicrobial specification details and documentation are provided on request.
Do you offer a PVC-free option for health-sensitive projects?
Yes. Our non-PVC PP flooring range carries the Blue Angel ecolabel and is phthalate-free, halogen-free and formaldehyde-free — the strictest indoor-air specification for hospitals, care homes and schools. The whole range is also FloorScore and GREENGUARD Gold certified.
How does LVT handle heavy hospital beds and carts?
Residual indentation is ≤0.05mm (ISO 24343-1) — no permanent marking under hospital beds, medication carts or mobility equipment when installed over a properly prepared subfloor. For the heaviest rolling loads, specify a glue-down dryback construction with a 0.55mm or 0.7mm wear layer.
Is it slip-resistant enough for senior living?
Yes. Rated R10 (DIN 51130), our LVT provides fall-safety slip resistance for corridors, bathrooms and circulation areas — a priority in care and nursing homes — without a heavily textured surface that would trap dirt and complicate cleaning.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
The MOQ is 800 m² per SKU, with mixed-container loading to combine visuals across a project. Production lead time is 15–25 days. FOB pricing (Ningbo / Shanghai, HS 3918.10) is returned within one business day, with a sample kit dispatched in 5–7 days.
