Herringbone vs Chevron Vinyl Flooring
These patterns create different joints, layouts and installation requirements. Select the pattern first, then approve the actual plank format, construction and laying instructions.

| Decision | Herringbone | Chevron |
|---|---|---|
| Geometry | Rectangular planks meet in a stepped right-angle pattern. | Angled ends meet to form a continuous V. |
| Product pack | Check the product’s A/B or handed-plank arrangement. | Check the angle, handed pieces and product-specific pack arrangement. |
| Set-out | Plan the centre line, border cuts and direction. | Plan the centre line, V alignment and border cuts. |
| Installation | Use the instructions for the chosen click or bonded product. | Use the instructions for the chosen angled-end product. |
Calculate waste from the plan
There is no single waste percentage for every patterned room. Dimensions, recesses, direction, borders, cutting rules and pack composition all affect the order quantity. The installer should work from the drawing and the actual product format.
- Draw the layoutShow dimensions, doorways, columns, borders and the intended pattern direction.
- Check handed piecesVerify the required A/B quantities and carton contents for the selected system. Do not assume all products use the same ratio.
- Agree the allowanceInclude cutting, damaged pieces and any agreed future replacement stock. Keep the installer’s calculation with the quotation.
Approve construction and appearance together
A shared colour reference can guide SPC, click LVT and dryback development, but it does not guarantee identical colour or texture across these constructions. Approve joined samples of each proposed build under the same lighting.
- Record format, wear layer, board/finished thickness and backing where applicable.
- Inspect the joint, bevel, texture, gloss and visible print repeat over several pieces.
- Check substrate preparation, expansion or adhesive requirements for the selected system.
- Match fire, emissions and other required evidence to the actual construction.
Samples and order planning
Standard samples are free. Buyers without a previous formal order pay the courier cost, which is refunded in a later formal order. Customers with a previous formal order receive free new-sample preparation and free courier delivery for samples up to 10 kg. Ecoflors uses FedEx, UPS or DHL according to the shipment; buyers may also arrange transport. Custom development outside standard samples is scoped separately before work starts.
Production is normally 35–40 days after order and specification approval. The quotation and order confirmation define the schedule for the selected programme. Sample dispatch, sea freight and destination delivery are separate stages; do not plan a project around a universal dispatch or transit promise.
Questions buyers ask
Is every chevron floor cut to the same angle?
No. Read the format and angle of the selected product. The pattern name is not a complete manufacturing or installation specification.
Can I order herringbone and chevron from the same photo?
Use separate SKU and layout approvals. A room image cannot establish joint geometry, dimensions or pack contents.
Is one pattern faster to install?
Installation time depends on the system, room layout, substrate preparation and installer. Obtain the contractor’s programme for the actual job.
