EIR & Classical Wood
Vinyl Flooring Textures
Factory Direct Decors

EIR (Embossed-in-Register) and Classical Wood are two distinct texture technologies applied to the same décor film platform. EIR uses optical registration to align the embossing die with the printed grain within ±0.1mm — producing a tactile surface where every knot and growth ring you see, you also feel. Classical Wood uses a standard embossing plate for broad colour compatibility and large-scale supply. Both texture families are available across all Ecoflors structural platforms — SPC, Click LVT, Dryback, and Loose Lay — with guaranteed colour matching between structures for multi-zone commercial projects.

Think of it this way: texture is the menu, structure is the cooking method. We separate the two decisions deliberately — so your procurement team can specify a single colour across a hotel’s guest rooms (SPC), corridors (Dryback), and public areas (Click LVT) without the colour mismatch that occurs when those structures come from different suppliers.

Embossed-in-Register (EIR)
Texture-to-Print Precision · The Customisation Tool

EIR begins with high-resolution optical scanning of the décor film’s printed grain. The embossing die is then aligned to the scan data and registered to the print within ±0.1mm across the full plank length. Consequently, every feature you see in the print — knots, growth rings, medullary rays — has a corresponding tactile feature at the same position on the surface. When you close your eyes and run your hand across an EIR plank, you feel the same structure the eye sees when it is open.

EIR Registration Precision
±0.1mm
Across the full plank length. This is the tolerance at which print-to-emboss misalignment becomes detectable to the human eye at reading distance (~40cm). Below ±0.1mm, the registration appears perfect. Above it, the tactile and visual features begin to diverge — a quality defect visible only at close inspection, but immediately apparent to architects and interior designers who handle samples professionally.
Why EIR is specified for high-end commercial environments

In boutique hotel guest rooms, the floor is inspected at close range by guests who crouch to examine luggage, by cleaners with floor-level sightlines, and by procurement managers during project walkthrough. At these distances, a tactile-visual misalignment is immediately visible. Furthermore, EIR surfaces break up specular light reflection differently from standard embossing — the non-uniform depth of the registered texture creates a varied light-scatter that flat or uniformly embossed surfaces cannot replicate.

Classical Wood Embossing
Universal Decor Compatibility · The Large-Scale Supply Tool

Classical Wood uses a high-quality standard embossing plate that produces consistent texture across large production volumes without requiring print-to-die registration. The embossing pattern is selected to complement a wide range of wood-grain colour families — consequently, it works across our entire 500+ colour library without creating visible misalignment at any colour. This is the specification for projects where procurement volume is large, lead time is critical, and the specifier requires broad colour availability rather than grain-exact precision.

Why Classical Wood is the volume procurement standard

For large residential developments, social housing programmes, and commercial projects where 10,000 m² or more of a single colour is required, Classical Wood delivers consistent results at significantly lower per-m² cost than EIR. Furthermore, because the embossing is not colour-registered, re-orders from subsequent production batches show no texture discontinuity — a critical advantage for phased construction projects that take deliveries over 12–18 months.

Cross-Structure Compatibility · The Universal Colour Matching Logic

One Colour. Four Structures. One Project.

This is the procurement advantage that multi-structure projects require. A hotel with SPC guest rooms, Dryback corridors, and Click LVT in meeting rooms can specify a single colour from either the EIR or Classical Wood library — and we produce all three structures from the same décor film batch. Consequently, the colour appears identical under the same lighting conditions in all three areas. We call this Universal Colour Matching, and it is the primary reason large-scale project developers consolidate their LVP procurement with a single factory.

Universal Colour Matching guarantee: When you order the same colour code across two or more structural platforms in the same purchase order, we produce all structures from the same décor film print run. Consequently, the colour appears identical under equivalent lighting conditions regardless of the structural backing. This eliminates the colour inconsistency that occurs when different structures are sourced from different factories — the most common aesthetic failure in multi-zone commercial LVP projects.

Scenario 02 · Budget Commercial
Cost Efficiency First — EU Social Housing & Large Commercial

Your procurement target is lowest installed cost per m² across 5,000 m² or more of identical colour. The floor needs to look consistent and perform reliably for 10+ years, but the 40cm visual test is not a specification requirement.

We recommend: Classical Wood texture (universal embossing) with our Dryback LVT structure for large commercial areas. For budget-driven commercial projects using Classical Wood, our Dryback LVT offers the most competitive per-square-metre cost — and the permanent adhesive bond delivers Class 44 utilisation without the material premium of SPC.

Scenario 03 · Office Renovation
Speed First — Office Renovation & Phased Projects

Your project timeline requires overnight installation with no cure time. You need the colour to match across the full floor area, including zones that will be installed in separate phases 3–6 months apart.

We recommend: EIR or Classical Wood texture in a single colour code, combined with Click Lock LVT for renovation speed. For renovation projects requiring visual consistency, our Click Lock LVT allows phase-by-phase installation from the same décor batch — with no adhesive, no cure time, and no colour mismatch between phases.

Frequently Asked Questions · Texture + Structure Logic
Can I get the same Classical Wood colour in both SPC and Dryback for different project zones?
Yes — this is our Universal Colour Matching capability. When you order the same colour code across two or more structural platforms in the same purchase order, we produce all structures from the same décor film print run. The colour appears identical under equivalent lighting in all zones. This specifically solves the most common aesthetic failure in multi-zone hotel or commercial projects — visible colour difference between guest rooms (SPC) and corridors (Dryback) that have been sourced from different factories. We also offer this service for EIR textures across all four structural platforms.
What exactly is EIR registration precision of ±0.1mm — why does it matter?
EIR registration precision refers to the maximum displacement between the printed grain feature (on the décor film) and the corresponding embossed texture (on the die). At ±0.1mm, the alignment appears perfect to the human eye at 40cm viewing distance — the threshold below which print and emboss features are perceived as a single unified surface. Above ±0.2mm, the eye begins to detect that the tactile and visual surfaces are offset — the knot you feel is not where the knot you see is printed. We enforce ±0.1mm across the full plank length, verified by optical inspection before dispatch.
For a hotel with EIR in guest rooms and Classical Wood in corridors — will the colours match?
We can match them from the same décor film base — the colour will be identical, but the tactile surface will differ between EIR (grain-registered) and Classical Wood (standard embossing). For most hotel procurement teams, this is an acceptable specification: EIR in close-inspection areas (guest rooms), Classical Wood in high-traffic areas (corridors and public spaces) where the EIR registration premium is not worth the additional cost. We advise on this combination as standard practice for large hospitality projects.
Can I specify an EIR decor in herringbone or chevron pattern cuts?
Yes. Both EIR and Classical Wood textures are available in herringbone and chevron pattern cuts across SPC and LVT structures. For EIR herringbone, we specify the grain direction relative to the 90° field — this is an important design decision, as a grain running perpendicular to the herringbone axis reads very differently from a grain running parallel. We advise on grain orientation before décor film production begins.
What is the MOQ for a custom EIR design — and how long does it take?
Custom EIR designs require a new embossing die. The minimum production quantity for a bespoke die is one container (approximately 2,500–3,500 m² depending on plank format). Once the die is approved, subsequent reorders have no minimum above our standard 800 sqm/SKU. Development lead time for a bespoke EIR die is 35–45 days from décor film approval. Standard EIR patterns from our existing die library have the same 15–25 day production lead time as Classical Wood.
